The wait is finally over - Reykjavík’s most beloved summer visitors are back! After months spent out on the open North Atlantic, the Atlantic Puffins have officially returned to Iceland’s coastal islands, marking the beginning of another exciting puffin season.
Over the past few days, our guides have already spotted the first puffins gathering near their nesting grounds, proudly showing off their colourful orange beaks as they prepare for the breeding season ahead. Every spring, these incredible seabirds return to the same islands and burrows, and seeing those first arrivals always feels like the true start of summer in Iceland.
With the puffins back, our daily puffin tours are now fully underway!

Puffin Tours Running Daily
Our tours are now operating every day from Reykjavík, giving visitors the chance to experience Iceland’s famous puffin colonies up close. The islands surrounding the city become home to thousands of nesting puffins throughout the summer months, creating one of the best wildlife experiences in Iceland.
These tours are perfect for photographers, bird lovers, families, and anyone wanting to enjoy a peaceful trip out on the water while learning more about Icelandic wildlife from our knowledgeable guides.
During the tour, guests often have the opportunity to observe:
Atlantic puffins nesting and flying around the islands
Other seabirds including guillemots, arctic terns, and fulmars
Beautiful coastal scenery surrounding Reykjavík
The vibrant energy of Icelandic summer beginning to return

A Special Time of Year
Puffin season is relatively short, typically lasting from spring through late summer before the birds once again head back out to sea. Throughout the coming months, the colonies will become increasingly active as puffins settle into their burrows, form breeding pairs, and eventually begin raising pufflings.
Every week brings something new to witness, from the first arrivals to busy feeding activity later in the season.
